CCCFLC CONFERENCE 2021

Due to the continuing Covid-19 pandemic, the 2021 Annual CCCFLC Conference was held virtually on Saturday, October 23, 2021.

Three one-hour sessions were offered: Links to recordings of the presentations are provided below.
SESSION 1 - "LibreTexts and H5P: How We Created a Spanish OER Grammar Manual"
Cristina Moon, Ph.D., Chabot College
Alejandro Lee Ph.D., Santa Monica College
Nancy Meléndez-Ballesteros, C. Phil., Santa Monica College and Mount Saint Mary’s University-Los Angeles
Session 1, Part 1 / Session 1, Part 2
Note from Adrienne: The closed captions were left unedited so everyone can see what unedited captions look like, an automated transcript.
SESSION 2 - "Artificial Intelligence in the Language Classroom"
Dr. Fabián Banga, Berkeley City College
Session 2 (complete)
Note from Adrienne: These captions were probably the ones with the best editing as three of us (Denise, Fabián and Adrienne) worked on them for several hours.
SESSION 3 - "Canvas: Best Practices for Teaching Synchronously and Asynchronously"
Adrienne Merlo, Adjunct Spanish Professor for Orange Coast College and Cypress College
Session 3, Part 1 / Session 3, Part 2

"Turning Zoom into your Language Classroom: Everything you Want to Know About Zoom and More!"
A hands-on presentation that shows you all the tricks you need to know to become proficient in the use of Zoom to teach any language class: how to design your own Zoom backgrounds, assign break rooms, create polls, and use the chat and the whiteboard features, and more. Become skilled at adapting any language activity from the brick and mortar classroom to Zoom.
Click here to view Dr. Felhus's presentation
Click here to view the discussion that followed

Dr. Ana Afzali, Citrus College:
"The Black Plague in Spain in the XIV Century"

The presentation was not recorded at the presenter's request
Jeff Brown, Orange Coast College:
"Describe the Situation!  How to get more input and output from your students than ever before!"
A fun way to provide tons of input and get students speaking almost immediately, by telling students mini-stories and then having them "Describe the Situation." Hilarious and super effective!
The presentation was recorded but its location is currently unknown
